CSTA Iowa Spotlight on Briana Goodenbour

District/Organization: Cedar Falls Community School District
City: Cedar Falls

Describe your teaching position or role:
Geometry, Math for Daily Living, Block Based Coding, Python Coding
What 's your favorite CS concept or lesson to teach? Why?
I really just love to watch the growth of my students over the semester. In my Block Based Coding course, the final project is to design an app that solves a problem. They are able to use all of the skills from the semester and make some really cool things.
What 's your favorite CS resource? Why?
My favorite CS resource is runestone.academy.  It is an open source resource that provides interactive lessons and supplemental material in multiple languages.  Teachers even have the opportunity to create classes and assign content to their students.  I have used How to Think Like a Computer Scientist in the past and am going to try Foundations of Python this year.
Why did you join CSTA & CSTA Iowa?
I joined CSTA & CSTA Iowa to make connections with fellow Computer Science teachers.  I also enjoy hearing about resources that others have found beneficial.
